Obtained BA (Hons.) degree from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi; joined Indian Administrative Service 1988, Odisha cadre. Started his career as Sub-Collector, Jajpur, later moved to Dhenkanal and Balasore. He also served as Collector, Dhenkanal, Labour Commissioner, Odisha, Managing Director, IPICOL. While on inter-cadre deputation to Uttarakhand, served as founding MD of State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttaranchal (SIDCUL), Secretary Cooperatives Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development. On return back to Odisha, he served as the first Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Public Private Partnership, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Labour and Employment Department, Tourism Department, Sports and Youth Services Department and has been holding the office of the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to His Excellency from 25/06/2007. He has been elevated to the rank of Principal Secretary since 11.1.2013 and continuing as Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor. He has also been holding the Additional Charge of Department of Industries as its Principal Secretary and Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited.
